January 2011 - Presenting Irman!

We had 2 trips in January alone - the first was our usual health trip, and the second was to welcome a new baby, Irman who is the younger brother of Irfan who returned to the Lord on the 20th January 2010.

By God's grace Irman was delivered on the 1st of Jannuary 2011, a great start to a new year. He's a healthy baby & both he and his mum are doing well. Thank you for your prayers and support. Here are some pictures of Irman.

H C T V - November 2010

Generally, the villagers seem to be in good health with no new problems except for skin problems. The lack of clean water supply is still a major issue and until this basic need is met, it looks like we will continue to face such cases.

Food rations were given out as usual, but we are feeling the pinch with rising food prices - buying rations for one family with the increased prices is one thing, buying for 40 families is another story altogether. This time we were blessed with a donation of chocolate milk Reliv Now for Kids.

If you would like to help feed the villagers (not what's expired and unedible, but sharing what you have), please let us know. Since there is no electricity, we have to depend on canned food, e.g sardines, corned beef, etc. They are lacking protein in their diet and if you would like to contribute either in cash or kind, please drop us an email and we can talk further.

H C T V - September & October 2010

Apologies for not being able to upload pictures any earlier because we were having problems with our computers and not been able to do much work online.

Apart from the usual health checks and seeing to some of their other needs, we were also able to see some of the womenfolk at work, preparing handicrafts for sale. For more details about the handicrafts available, please visit our sister site: Asli Crafts.

Special thanks to Bob & Gaye, the Penang Office for Human Development (POHD), the Holy Family Intercessory Group (Canada), New Manna and our family and friends for their prayers and support.

H C T V - June 2010

Despite the heavy rain in Penang and the fact that it had been raining for 3 consecutive days in the village, we went in faith, and by God's grace , the skies cleared up till we got back. As it was the school holidays, we had more kids this time since those in boarding school had also returned to the village.

More than half of our patients (mainly kids) were having flu like symptoms and some adults were also down with diarhhea, which seems to be a common occurrence in the village. Skin problems among the kids is also quite rampant and we were shocked when informed that there's a village further in, where the entire community suffers from skin problems (this has apparently been going on for some time now). Arrangements are now being made for us to go in and assess the situation.

We are grateful to the Penang Office for Human Development (POHD), the Holy Family Intercessory Group (Canada), New Manna and our family and friends for their prayers and support.

H C T V - May 2010

By God’s grace, we had another productive trip on the 2nd of May. To make sure we could cope with the increase in patients, come out of the jungle before dark we left Penang at 5 am and were able to get back before night.

Other than a boy with a broken nose, there were no major problems although there were many who were down with the flu. Kids were generally fine and were happier up on a tree instead of being examined by the health team.

We are grateful to the Penang Office for Human Development (POHD),
the Holy Family Intercessory Group (Canada), and our
family and friends for their prayers and support.
